os Angeles is catching up to its competitors in California’s north, well on its way to nurturing creatives and tech types interested in becoming the leaders behind the businesses of the next decade. With this momentum, a crucial next step involves providing a base for those entrepreneurs starting to give life to their ideas.
We’ve rounded up the top spaces in LA, from our Startup Guide Los Angeles guide, that deserve some recognition and could perhaps become the shared spaces of the next generation of innovators.
📍12575 Beatrice Street, Los Angeles, CA 90066
CTRL Collective wants to be the hipster coffeehouse of coworking spaces. Though many of its members work in some form of tech, the dynamic space (which includes a converted garage-art studio-makerspace) offers the opportunity to bring together professionals from various industries through “member-appreciation weeks” that encourage engagement and “intercompany pollination.”
📍525 S Hewitt Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013
This former furniture manufacturing plant has now been transformed and retrofitted into a coworking space publicly owned by the LADWP (Los Angeles Department of Water and Power). The space has been tailored to fit the needs of contemporary cleantech startups, while the larger campus serves as a platform that offers opportunity to the green economy to communities all over LA.

Initially launched as a workspace for creatives and entrepreneurs of the entertainment-production and apparel industries, Maker City LA now invites members of all types of startups and NGOs to join them. The space is located on the eleventh floor of The Reef, a multipurpose ‘creative habitat’ workspace, offering members a plethora of amenities such as a podcast studio, green screen, and film/photo studios.

As its name suggests, Phase Two provides innovators in tech, media and entertainment industries the chance to further develop passed their initial launch process. The space comes with free wifi, private phone booths, mail and printing services, and virtual reality panels. Phase Two also offers a diverse community of professionals from different industries in its shared offices, which facilitates interaction, shared knowledge and conversation in curated communal areas.
📍4505 Glencoe Ave. Marina Del Rey, CA 90292
Rosie would be proud of this coworking space that describes itself as “built by women, for everyone.” Though its birthplace is up in the Pacific Northwest, The Riveter found its second home in Los Angeles in 2018. The aim for this space is to bring more inclusivity to the LA tech world. The Riveter now has two locations, one in West LA, the other in Marina Del Rey.
📍9410 Owensmouth Avenue, Chatsworth, CA 91311
Located in the San Fernando Valley, Toolbox LA was created as a way to help put SoCal on the map as a hardware tech hub. What its founders hope will make Toolbox LA stand out among the myriad of other software companies in the city is its desire to foster community with members, with a focus on those working in hardware and looking for a hub north of Los Angeles’ center.
